Meet WFTDA's South Central Region
With the Des Moines Derby Dames now officially a WFTDA league, it will mean a whole new level of opponents to play each season. The WFTDA placed D3 in the South Central Region among some of the biggest and most storied names in modern roller derby.
A sampling of some South Central Region teams:
Omaha Rollergirls -
Omaha was the very first WFTDA league that D3 ever played. Omaha was also instrumental in helping the Dames achieve their status in the WFTDA. Players and referees from Omaha often make the drive to Des Moines to watch or assist in bouts.
Kansas City Rollergirls -
D3 played Kansas City's Plan B as the finale of the 2011 regular season. It was one of the most competitive and exciting bouts in the history of D3. Winners of the 2007 WFTDA National Championship.
Texas Rollergirls -
Who do we have to thank for the resurgence of modern roller derby? The Texas Rollergirls. The TXRG have been around since 2003 and are the mothers of modern derby. In addition to being a powerhouse in the South Central Region, they're also one of the most widely respected leagues in the world. Winners of the 2006 WFTDA National Championship.
Little City Rollergirls -
